Our Principles & Values
- We treat all our customers with dignity and respect.
- We care about our customers and administer their financial and legal affairs courteously, promptly and professionally.
- We encourage feedback, and act on it promptly, regardless of whether it comes in the form of complaints or compliments.
- We always act in the best interests of our customers.
Public Trustee was founded on 1 January 1881 by the State Government to oversee the safe and economic administration of deceased estates. Over the years, although deceased estate administration and trusts have remained core business activities, we have grown and assumed additional responsibilities.
These additional responsibilities have expanded, particularly in the area of Personal Financial Administration where some members of the community need our support to manage their financial affairs. This reflects South Australia’s ageing population, an increase in the number of people who no longer have capacity to manage their own financial affairs and people living in the community with a disability or mental health issues.
